Adrian Mutu’s hopes of joining Genoa look to be over, with reports indicating that he may turn his attention to Serie A rivals Atalanta.
The Romanian was relegated into Serie B last term after a disappointing season with Cesena, but looks set to make an immediate return to the top flight.
Initial reports this summer suggested that Genoa were in prime contention, but their interested has apparently waned and, according to romaniainternational.com, the player is instead attracting interest from Atalanta.
Mutu scored eight times for Cesena last season, from 28 appearances. Any move back to the top flight would see the 33-year-old sign for a seventh different Serie A side.
