Roma’s Matteo Brighi has edged closer to signing for Torino, Sky Sport Italia understands.
The journeyman midfielder isn’t wanted under new Roma Coach Zdenek Zeman’s plans and newly promoted Torino have offered him an escape route.
Last season Brighi was loaned to Atalanta but had a problematic campaign, playing just 11 games before finding himself surplus to requirements upon his return to Rome.
Torino, however, have backed the 31-year-old former Italian international to help them survive in Serie A next season.
It is unclear at this stage whether Brighi will join the Turin-based club on loan or permanently.
The Granata have already had a busy summer, confirming the captures of Jean-Francois Gillet and Matteo Darmian while the arrival of Milan’s Djamel Mesbah seems imminent. Giampiero Ventura’s club have also stressed that Angelo Ogbonna will not be leaving.
