Giampaolo Pozzo has made his first coaching appointment since completing a takeover at Watford by bringing in Gianfranco Zola.
The English Championship outfit recently became the third club to be owned by the Pozzo family, after Udinese and Granada, when a takeover was completed at the end of last month.
Immediately bringing in former West Ham duo Gianluca Nani and Scott Duxbury at technical level to oversee management, former Hammers boss Zola was strongly linked with the position.
In light of Sean Dyche’s confirmed removal from the role last week, confirmation of former Napoli and Parma player Zola’s appointment has now come through.
“Everyone knows how Gianfranco Zola likes football to be played,” technical director Nani told the club’s official website this weekend.
“I think Watford's fans can expect an exciting and attacking style from his team. Gianfranco represents this project perfectly.”
