Fabio Capello and Marcello Lippi are on the Russian FA’s shortlist to replace Dick Advocaat as the national side’s head Coach.
The Russians revealed the names of the 13 candidates for the job and it includes two respected Italian tacticians.
Capello is available after he left the England job earlier this year, while Lippi – who led Italy to World Cup glory in 2006 – is currently in China with Guangzhou Evergrande.
The four other foreigners in the running are former Inter boss Rafael Benitez, ex-Barcelona tactician Pep Guardiola, Harry Redknapp after his recent dismissal at Tottenham and Athletic Bilbao’s Marcelo Bielsa.
The Russian contenders are Anatoly Byshovets, Valery Gazzaev, Andrei Kobelev, Yuri Krasnozhan, Valery Nepomniaschy, Nikolai Pisarev and Yuri Semin.
Roberto Mancini was being linked with the job before he signed a new five-year contract at Manchester City.
