Fiorentina have officially signed ‘the new Julio Cesar,' Norberto Murara Neto from Atletico Paranense.
The deal for the 21-year-old had been struck for several weeks, but was only made official this evening.
“I am very happy to be here,” said the Brazilian. “I've been compared to Julio Cesar and it is very flattering, but I prefer to be known as Neto rather than the heir to someone else, even if it is a great goalkeeper.
“My idol is Claudio Taffarel. I'm ready to wait for my place in the team, because both Sebastien Frey and Artur Boruc are great goalkeepers.
“Even though I might not be playing much to begin with, I think being in Europe will help my chances with the Seleçao rather than hinder them.”
Frey is out until April following knee surgery.
