Milan’s new defensive recruit Francesco Acerbi has pledged to spend the next decade of his career with the club.
Presented at Milanello for the first time, the lifelong Rossoneri fan outlined his plan to win silverware with his new outfit.
“Arriving at Milan is fascinating as I know this is a wonderful club,” Acerbi said. “I want to stay here for 10 years, not just a single year, so I have to do well.”
The 23-year-old centre-back, signed on a co-ownership deal from Genoa, went on to assess what he can eventually bring to Milan.
“I would like to improve in a tactical sense. We must always improve. I like to help the midfield and attack but it is important to return to defence if we lose the ball.”
Reflecting on last season’s impressive campaign with Chievo, he said: “I always tried to do something more at Chievo for myself and for the team. To make the progression into a quality player you must be consistent, and now I have arrived at Milan and I’m happy.
“The walls are covered by so many pictures of success. I want to win too, I hope to have a great season and to assert myself.”
Acerbi couldn’t confirm that he would be taking Alessandro Nesta’s No 13 shirt, saying: “I have not decided yet.”
