Blerim Dzemaili has given his backing to Lorenzo Insigne staying with Napoli next season and hopes that it is another campaign that brings the club a trophy.
The Partenopei finished last term by winning the Coppa Italia and it has left the former Parma man hungry for more success.
Having worked alongside Insigne this past couple of weeks in training, the midfielder also believes that the youngster can contribute to that anticipated hunt for trophies.
“Insigne has impressed me during these past few days and he will give us a big hand in the League and in the Europa League,” the Swiss midfielder reflected from the club’s pre-season camp at Dimaro.
“Our goal is to be among the top five, but after a while if we find ourselves top then we’ll aim to win the League. Except for [Ezequiel] Lavezzi, we all still remain. We want to win something again, even if Juve are favourites for everything.
“This squad is not missing much, we have experienced a lot thanks to last year in the Champions League and winning the Coppa Italia. I do not want us to underestimate the Europa League, I want to win it, it would be like winning a Scudetto.”
The 26-year-old also reflected on his own position within the team, both in the new 3-5-1-1 formation being used and in general.
“We are comfortable in the new formation, we used it already last year and won in it. I can play multiple roles for the team, as well as regista. I have no problems fitting in.
“Compared to last year I am less shy, I know my teammates and am part of a large group here. If a player manages more than 40 appearances in his first season in Naples then that must mean he is doing well.”
