Aurelio De Laurentiis has apparently launched a strong-worded warning to Edinson Cavani over any demands made during contract negotiations.
In an attempt to placate the forward, Napoli have reportedly entered into talks with the Uruguayan over improving his current deal at the San Paolo.
Reports have placed the player’s demands at €5m, against the club’s initial proposal of €3m, with recent rumours suggesting that a compromise of €4m was close to being reached with the 25-year-old, who is currently on €2.4m a year.
However, in a question and answer session with fans at the team’s pre-season camp in Dimaro, De Laurentiis had a surprising take on the situation.
“Cavani? He can rot on the bench if he asks for €7-8m,” the movie mogul reportedly declared.
Earlier in the day, De Laurentiis told reporters that he had received no offers for the striker so far this summer.
