Santos have revealed they had a deal with Milan to sign Robinho before Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva were sold instead.
The Rossoneri needed to raise funds over the summer and upset many fans by handing both Ibra and Thiago Silva to PSG.
“The Robinho move was going through, but the sale of both those players complicated matters,” Santos Coach Muricy Ramalho told Terra.com.br.
“If they had stayed at San Siro, then things would’ve gone differently for us. We made a big effort to sign Robinho and we were very close to finalising a deal.
“Now we know it is not going to happen. Milan did not want to finish off the move.”
