Genoa have announced “the deal is done” for Argentines Matias Martinez and Julian Velazquez.
General manager Pietro Lo Monaco revealed the news during an interview with the official club website.
“Martinez has secured EU status and the deal is done. We are just waiting to see how the Andreas Granqvist situation pans out first.
“As for Velazquez, we have sent back the signed copies of the documents and the Independiente directors will evaluate them. He should come to Italy next week.”
Martinez is a 24-year-old centre-back who shot to fame at Racing Club Avellaneda.
Velazquez is a 21-year-old central defender who has been with Independiente in Argentina since their youth academy.
