Inter are pondering a bid for German Denis of Atalanta, a report in the Gazzetta dello Sport is suggesting.
Boss Andrea Stramaccioni wants a back-up for first-choice striker Diego Milito given the likely departure of Giampaolo Pazzini.
Denis was a revelation in Serie A last season when he scored 16 goals in 33 League games for the Bergamo based club while on loan.
At the end of the season, Atalanta took up their option to buy the Argentina international outright from Udinese.
Inter had previously been associated with Mattia Destro, part-owned between Siena and Genoa, as well as Palermo forward Abel Hernandez this summer.
Denis has also had Italian spells at Cesena and Napoli during his career to date.
