Alberto Gilardino is reportedly ready to leave Italian club Genoa after just six months in order to join Zenit St Petersburg.
According to Life Sports, the striker has consented to such a switch and the two clubs are now set to open negotiations.
Zenit boss Luciano Spalletti is a fan of the former Fiorentina man, a player who left the Viola for Marassi in January.
However, the Italian international struggled for form and fitness, eventually scoring just four goals in 17 games for the Grifone.
Lokomotiv Moscow also recently showed an interest in the ex-Parma and Milan centre-forward.
Zenit have been paired with Juventus’ Alessandro Matri and Fabio Quagliarella in recent times too.
Genoa have admitted that they will listen to all serious offers for players this summer.
