Despite struggling for playing time last year and now seeing Alessandro Gamberini join the club, Federico Fernandez will not be leaving Napoli.
The Argentine joined the Vesuviani last summer, but only managed 16 League appearances last summer.
However, despite seeing the team’s defence boosted for next term with the return to fitness of Miguel Britos and the arrival from Fiorentina of Gamberini, the 23-year-old will be staying at the San Paolo, confirmed his agent today.
Atalanta had been linked this week with a loan move for the former Estudiantes man.
“There are no doubts about the future of Fernandez,” explained representative Gustavo Goni to Tuttomercatoweb.com.
“He is staying with Napoli. There is no other club that he will be playing for in the new season.
“I exclude his farewell from Napoli, he wants to stay and play for his place. He remains with the Azzurri, despite the arrival of Gamberini.”
