Mauro Zarate has declared that he intends to stay with Lazio for the new season, but not alongside signing a new contract.
The Argentine spent last year on loan with Inter after a falling out with previous Aquile Coach Edy Reja,
However, after failing to secure a permanent switch to San Siro and back training with Lazio this summer under Vladimir Petkovic, the player looks set to stay.
“I will stay at Lazio 100 per cent and repay the love of the fans on the field,” the forward reportedly told calciomercato.it today.
However, one issue to this declaration could come in form of the player’s confirmation that he won’t sign a new deal.
“Would I spread my wage over more years, though? My contract will stay as it is.”
Lazio have reportedly been keen to re-negotiate Zarate’s current deal , so as to spread his current earnings over an extra year, to bring his annual salary down to a more comparative level with his teammates.
