Milan Vice-President Adriano Galliani claims the club won't sign Domenico Criscito or Reto Ziegler unless their prices are significantly reduced.
Both players have been heavily linked with a move to San Siro, but it would appear that Genoa and Sampdoria are proving tough negotiators.
"Neither Criscito nor Ziegler will come to Milan because there is no deal financially," Galliani said. "It's only a problem of costs, but for the moment we consider the demands of Genoa and Sampdoria to be excessive.
"I don't rule out the possibility of someone coming in before the end of the transfer window.
"I am saying that Criscito and Ziegler won't arrive, but we are looking for an opportunity and if one arises we will jump at it, otherwise we'll stay the way we are."
