Goalkeeper Joe Hart is a major doubt to feature for England in Wednesday’s friendly against Italy.
The shot-stopper is one of those called up by Roy Hodgson for the international test in Berne, Switzerland.
Hart was forced to miss Manchester City’s Community Shield match against Chelsea today because of that back problem.
The likely replacements are Birmingham’s Jack Butland or Norwich shot-stopper John Ruddy.
Both England and Italy have called numerous new faces for this game, making big changes from the sides that faced each other in the Euro 2012 quarter-final.
Hart was in goal and beaten in the penalty shoot-out.
