Napoli have lodged an appeal against Goran Pandev and Andrea Dossena’s two-match bans following the Italian Super Cup.
Pandev was sent off in Saturday’s 4-2 defeat to Juventus in Beijing for insulting a linesman, while Dossena is accused of attempting to “intimidate” another official after the final whistle.
Juan Camilo Zuniga and Coach Walter Mazzarri are suspended for one game, which will be carried across from the Italian Super Cup to the Serie A season.
“This morning I spoke to President Aurelio De Laurentiis, who is very disappointed and irritated by the harsh decisions of the Disciplinary Commission,” said lawyer Mattia Grassani.
“We requested a copy of the referee’s report to lodge an appeal and to evaluate the individual situations of those banned.”
The report allegedly states Pandev said to the linesman: “That wasn’t offside, you piece of ****.” However, the Macedonian strongly denies having added the insult.
Agent Carlo Pallavicino also protested at the Pandev ban on Twitter. “From now on let’s lip-read every player in Serie A and see who gets suspended...”
