Italy midfielder Alberto Aquilani isn’t too disappointed with last night’s 2-1 friendly defeat to England. “It was useful.”
The much-changed and experimental Azzurri took the lead through Daniele De Rossi, but they failed to hold on to their advantage.
“I don’t think we deserved to lose the game and I think we should have got a bit more out of it, but it’s OK,” the Fiorentina man told Sky Sport Italia.
“It was a good training session for us and the Coach would have seen some useful things for the future.
“August games are always peculiar, because your physical condition is still not at its best and we had a lot of new faces in the team.”
While the team was crammed with youngsters and inexperienced players, Aquilani was recalled after missing out on Euro 2012.
“I’m happy because wearing the Azzurri shirt is always a great honour for me,” stated the now former Liverpool man.
