Napoli are thinking about offering Eduardo Vargas to Genoa in exchange for Alberto Gilardino, reports the Gazzetta dello Sport.
Vargas is unhappy at the prospect of another season as a back-up player at the Stadio San Paolo, while the Azzurri need a man who can cover for first choice centre-forward Edinson Cavani.
Vargas and Gilardino joined their present clubs in January, but neither has been able to really shine so far.
Last week Vargas made it clear that he would ask for a loan move to another club should he not be guaranteed more playing time this term.
Gilardino, who the Grifone signed at the start of this year from Fiorentina for €8m, has been paired with a variety of clubs this summer.
