Italy goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has no intention of hanging up his gloves ahead of the World Cup in 2014.
“I don’t think I’m at the end of my career,” he told Sport Italia. “I am 34 and look good. I have a very good physical condition and enthusiasm, and I have a great will to win.
"When it’s like this you can continue moving forward. When one of these three components will no longer be there, I will be the first to raise my hand for a new life.”
Italy had a disappointing World Cup in South Africa, failing to progress past the group stages, and Coach Cesare Prandelli is intent on blending youth with the more experienced players for Brazil.
“I think you can reach a solution to organise national team stages [mini weekly training sessions], this is possible amongst people with common sense who care about the future of our football movement.
“We must confront and convince everyone to get what is necessary, to try and meet the needs of the national team, the club and individual players. I think it is possible.”
