Christian Maggio has been quickly seduced by the ability of new Napoli teammate Lorenzo Insigne. “He’s a better finisher than Ezequiel Lavezzi.”
Insigne has been recalled to his parent club after loans stints away following the sale of the Argentine to Paris Saint-Germain.
“They are similar, but Insigne is more concrete in front of goal than Lavezzi,” the full-back noted on Wednesday. “The Argentine would often find himself in front of the ‘keeper, but never score…
“Insigne is a boy who, despite his age, is a serious guy who works hard. He follows the indications of the Coach and I hope he has a good career because he deserves it.”
Insigne has this week joined Maggio in the full Italian squad for the first time after being promoted from the Under-21 set-up.
Turning to Napoli’s Scudetto hopes, the defender saw no reason why his team couldn’t take the crown away from Juventus.
“We haven’t spoken about the Scudetto, but why not? We can certainly cause a lot of teams problems this season,” Maggio added.
“The squad is more united this time around, new players have come in and we’ll try to improve. It won’t be easy though as everyone raises their game against us…”
Napoli are joint top with Juventus and Lazio after two rounds of Serie A.
