Atalanta’s Federico Peluso is showing no fear about the prospect of playing for Italy in tonight’s qualifier against Malta.
The left-back could start in Modena – just a month after he made his international debut in a 2-1 friendly loss to England.
“This shirt will not weigh me down,” stated the defender. “Wearing this jersey is a motive of honour. It is a dream and playing for Italy is always very special.”
Italy began their Brazil 2014 campaign on Friday with a problematic 2-2 draw in Sofia which has seen the side heavily criticised.
“The Malta game will be very different from the one in Sofia, but it will already be decisive,” said the man who attracted the interest of Juventus in the summer.
“Let us hope we can win by going into the match with a different mentality.”
