Zdenek Zeman explained how Roma will face Cagliari without Francesco Totti, Pablo Osvaldo or Daniele De Rossi. “I’m convinced they can do well.”
The Giallorossi are already smarting from last week’s shock 3-2 home defeat to Bologna, a game they had been dominating 2-0, but miss their three star players due to injury for tomorrow’s trip to Cagliari.
“I am convinced all the players at my disposal can do well. We’ll have to wait and see who will actually play,” said Zeman in his Press conference.
“We have been working together for three months and I have seen improvements both on a technical and tactical level.
“Have our objectives changed after the Bologna defeat? After the game with Inter, everyone made it seem as if Roma were going to win the Scudetto. Now the same people are panicking.”
Miralem Pjanic is set to wear the captain’s armband tomorrow, moving into a more advanced role in Totti’s absence.
“He remains a midfielder for me and I hope to use him in that role, although he can also play as a forward or a trequartista,” continued Zeman.
“Ivan Piris? He made some mistakes, just as many others did. He is relaxed and we are not looking for any other defenders on the transfer market.”
Sunday’s game with Cagliari will be played behind closed doors, as the Is Arenas has again failed safety checks.
“It is never good to play without a crowd there, as above all we play football for the fans. It is not a normal situation.
“So far this season we have done better on our travels, but that was only one game. Cagliari have players who can change a match.”
