Gian Piero Gasperini lost his Palermo debut and suggested the players “don’t look at the standings” ahead of tomorrow’s relegation tussle with Pescara.
The Coach was drafted in last week when Giuseppe Sannino was axed after one point from three rounds, but was beaten 1-0 by Atalanta in his introduction to the Rosanero.
“The important thing right now is to pick up points. I have a good squad that is positive and eager to react to recent problems,” said Gasp.
“Now our priority is not the table and I tell my players don’t look at the standings, or this could spark some fears. I want to take the pressure off them and enable them to concentrate on what they have to do on the pitch.
“I saw some steps forward in Bergamo on Sunday, so we must continue in this direction.”

Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini publicly complained after the game that €12m investment Paulo Dybala was not used from the start, a criticism he had also levelled at Sannino.
“Paulo is a lad with immense potential, which everyone can see. He is growing at Palermo and has already improved his physique, but he remains a kid. Right now the important thing for us is to be more efficient. We need points.”
