Francesco Guidolin has revealed Antonio Di Natale was frozen out for a locker-room row, “but it wasn’t with me.”
The captain was dropped for today’s 0-0 draw with Genoa amid reports of a furious argument behind the scenes on Friday.
“There was an argument involving Di Natale, but it wasn’t with me. I can tell you that now,” revealed the Coach on Sky Sport Italia.
“I couldn’t say that yesterday because I didn’t want the team to lose concentration. It was nothing to do with me, but there are rules in the locker room and they must be respected.
“I must try to keep the boat on an even keel and ensure the rules are the same for everyone. I will not add any more on the matter.”
Udinese looked toothless and sluggish in the lunchtime match, drawing 0-0 with Genoa.
“I am fairly satisfied with the performance, as Genoa only focused on defending. We created some chances and had many young players on the field. We hoped to win, but it can be considered a good point.
“I am relaxed and the only time I lost control a bit was after the Champions League elimination. I apologise to everyone for that.
“I wanted to let the team know that I am in this battle with them. I have an excellent rapport with the Pozzo family and always will do.”
