Domenico Criscito says he’s returned to the national set-up with the intention of staying after his controversial omission from Euro 2012.
The player was left out of the European Championship squad after he was placed under investigation as part of the match fixing betting probe.
The Zenit St Petersburg player, however, was recently cleared of any wrongdoing and is subsequently back in the Giro Azzurro.
“I don’t consider this call-up revenge,” the left-back commented. “It is rather a recognition of what I am as a player.
“I’m happy to be back in the squad and I now never want to leave this jersey behind me.”
Italy play Armenia on Friday and then Denmark on Tuesday as their World Cup 2014 qualification campaign continues.
