President of the Italian National Olympic Committee (CONI) Gianni Petrucci has praised Lazio after their impressive start to the season.
The 67-year-old former leader of the Italian Football Federation (FIGC) has commended the Biancocelesti after winning five of their first seven League matches this term, describing them as a 'beautiful reality'.
“Lazio are the revelation of Serie A so far,” the Rome-born administrator told ANSA. “They are a real surprise. [President] Claudio Lotito has done well to keep expectations low, but so far they have been a beautiful reality.”
He also went on to comment on the the supposed falling out between Roma Coach Zdenek Zeman and vice-captain Daniele De Rossi, and Gianluigi Buffon's comments that it has had no effect on the national team.
“On that controversy, I will stay in my place and say I agree with both of them. And in any case, this whole issue will have no baring on the national team.”
