Andrea Stramaccioni assured Inter fans that Wesley Sneijder will return soon and “the derby result is worth triple.”
The Nerazzurri clambered back into joint third place after a 1-0 victory over arch rivals Milan , which was achieved despite Yuto Nagatomo’s dismissal.
“Many things happened in the derby, but considering the journey and the condition we were in, I’d say the result is worth triple,” Strama told Radio Deejay.
“It came in such an important game of the season. Milan complained about their disallowed goal? I can say the goalkeeper must not be touched or blocked off when he comes off his line. The referee whistled straight away, so you can’t even really call it a disallowed goal.”
That win was achieved with Sneijder on the treatment table, as the Dutchman is expected back from a thigh strain for the game against Atalanta on November 11. His return could prompt another change of tactics.
“His value is beyond debate. Sneijder is a particular player, as you have to put him in the right circumstances so he can express himself at his best, otherwise he can struggle. His idea position is behind a striker in the 4-2-3-1, though he can also play on the left in a three-man midfield.
“We want to become great again. I am not afraid, even though we are starting out from Year Zero.”
Stramaccioni is the youngest Coach in Serie A and even younger than Inter captain Javier Zanetti, as his fledgling playing career was ended early by a serious injury.
“I could play well enough, though I don’t like to talk about it. I do get angry when I’m compared to Arrigo Sacchi, as he never played football at all!”
