Genoa Coach Gigi De Canio has urged Cesare Prandelli to call up Marco Borriello. “He has the quality and potential to play for Italy.”
Borriello is no stranger to the Azzurri, but the last of his four caps was in February 2011 and he has never scored.
The 30-year-old lost his form during brief spells at Milan, Roma and Juventus, but is rediscovering his touch with a return to Genoa this summer.
“Borriello is a player who has the quality and potential to play for Italy,” De Canio told Sky Sport Italia.
“At the moment perhaps there are other strikers who are physically more prepared for international duty, but we are certain that Prandelli is watching Marco too.”
