Liverpool are thought to have sent talent scouts to view Genoa defender Andreas Granqvist [12] and Palermo midfielder Josip Ilicic.
At first it was believed the Anfield emissaries were at Marassi purely for Granqvist during the Genoa-Palermo match before international duty.
However, according to the latest reports from Italy, Liverpool were even more impressed by Ilicic in that game.
The 24-year-old Slovenian has been with the Rosanero since 2010 and is tactically versatile, able to take on a number of midfield positions.
