Vincenzo Montella won’t deny Fiorentina “can open up interesting scenarios” for their season if they conquer Chievo on Sunday.
The Tuscans are flying high in joint fifth place and many believe they play the best football in Serie A – see our blog on that issue here.
“Winning tomorrow would mean a lot and obviously we’ll try out best. I hope the approach and interpretation of the match are correct,” said the Coach.
“President Andrea Della Valle has given us enthusiasm. Beating Chievo, who are a tough, experienced and quality opponent, can open up interesting scenarios.
“I have an excellent rapport with Eugenio Corini, as we were even classmates in the coaching certificate course. He was already a Coach even when he was playing.
“It’s true that we haven’t won on our travels yet, but I don’t think there is an ‘away problem’ at Fiorentina. We’ve played more or less the same way apart from the opening 30 minutes against Inter.
“Perhaps we lack cynicism and do not know how to ‘win ugly,’ but one cannot go into a game thinking like that.”
Alberto Aquilani is back in the Viola squad after more injury problems.
“We are all happy with the way he is training. We will evaluate the situation day by day, not letting ourselves get swept up in a hasty decision.
“I still have some doubts over my line-up. Luca Toni and Mounir El Hamdaoui have different characteristics, but fortunately I have them and Adem Ljajic to give me plenty of options. I have to evaluate the condition of those who returned from international duty.”
