Serse Cosmi is hoping that a successful survival campaign at Siena could offer him an opportunity at a bigger club.
Cosmi replaced Giuseppe Sannino in the summer with the task of keeping the Bianconeri in the top flight despite a six-point penalty.
“I’m coaching an exceptional squad,” he told the Gazzetta dello Sport after his team went from -6 to +2 in eight games.
“I want to achieve what Walter Mazzarri and Stefano Colantuono did, at Reggina and Atalanta respectively, by keeping a team up who started the season in negative figures.”
Mazzarri has subsequently gone on to bigger things and is currently fighting for the Scudetto with Napoli.
“I hope to get a call from a big club, that is my desire,” Cosmi continued. “Let us be clear, I still have another two years on my contract here and I’m happy.
“However, I do hope to one day taste the satisfaction of taking charge of a high level team. At that point I would then understand whether I was good enough too…”
