Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni has admitted he has yet to decide how to face Juventus. “I could play with just one striker…”
The Nerazzurri have used a 3-4-2-1 system in recent times which has helped Antonio Cassano, Diego Milito and Rodrigo Palacio shine in attack.
However, the young tactician may opt for a more prudent system when they take on the League leaders tomorrow in Turin.
“Even if I wanted to, I couldn’t give you the starting XI,” the Coach stated this afternoon.
“I have too many doubts in my head. I’m desperate as I can’t decide. I’ll make my decisions 45 minutes before the game.
“We could play with just one striker. If we do play then you all know that man will be Milito.”
Stramaccioni, however, insisted that Inter would still be dangerous even if he made such a system switch.
“Playing with more strikers doesn’t make you more dangerous. You think it does, but it doesn’t.
“Fiorentina, without any proper attackers, gave them difficulties. Fiorentina and Shakthar caused Juve problems, but we don’t have their characteristics.”
Juventus lead the standings after nine wins and a draw, while Inter are second – four points adrift of the Old Lady.
“I wouldn’t sign for a draw before the game because we are Inter. As a Coach, I’ve never gone into a game thinking about drawing.
“I expect a high level tie between two top teams.
“It’s an important game, but it is too soon to decide the destiny of the side or a Coach. We respect them, but we have no fear. We go there as Inter and the pitch will give the answers.”
On the great rivalry between the two teams, Strama noted: “I thought that our No 1 rivals were Milan, but it’s actually Juventus. That just gives us extra motivation to go there and get a result.”
The former Roma youth team Coach also ruled out the possibility that his side would pay Andrea Pirlo special attention.
“Pirlo has quality. He is their playmaker and that of the Italian national team. It’s only normal that we’ll look to cause him problems, but there will be no man-marker.”
