Beppe Iachini insists Brescia “will not sit back” against Inter at San Siro this evening as Alessandro Diamanti returns to the squad.
The Rondinelle are coming off five consecutive defeats and their worst Serie A losing streak in 16 years, but the performances have been strong in everything except taking their chances.
“One thing is for certain: if you sit back and decide not to play, then sooner or later you will concede a goal,” warned Coach Iachini.
“It can be from an individual moment, a set play or a one-on-one by a Nerazzurri champion.
“Therefore, we must undoubtedly try to score at least one goal.”
Brescia have struggled to hit the back of the net recently with just one goal from their last four games.
Some of that was down to the absence of summer signing Diamanti, who returns after his three-match ban for insulting the referee.
“In these three weeks out he has worked very hard. He has the ability to conjure something out of nothing that can be decisive in a match. I hope he can help us achieve the results we deserve.”
Inter are also looking for a morale-booster following their 3-1 Champions League defeat against Tottenham.
“I would've preferred it if Inter had won in London, because thanks to that setback they received input from President Massimo Moratti. The pride of great champions is hurt in these situations and they are determined to prove themselves even more.
“It may be true that they are missing quite a few midfielders, but on the other hand they have valid alternatives. They will also have Diego Milito back, as he is a formidable striker.”
