Inter are planning a January swoop for Mauricio Pinilla, as they seek an understudy for Diego Milito.
It would be a return to San Siro for the Cagliari striker, who had already been signed by Inter from Universidad de Chile for €2.8m in 2003.
However, Pinilla never actually played for the Nerazzurri in an official match.
He has since gone on to find success at Palermo and Cagliari, but is on the market after a series of injuries.
There are concerns in Andrea Stramaccioni’s camp that there is no natural replacement for Milito.
