Joining Fiorentina was at the top of Luca Toni’s wish-list during the summer, his representative has confirmed.
“He was a wanted man in the summer, but he immediately made it clear that the Tuscan club would be his preference should they make a move,” Manuel Montipo told Radio Blu.
“That was what happened. He was asked to give a contribution on the pitch and in the changing rooms, not requests made to a player who some said was finished.”
The 35-year-old, who initially left Fiorentina in 2007 for Bayern Munich, has scored four goals in 10 Serie A games so far this season.
The 2006 World Cup winner had also played for Roma, Juventus, Genoa and Al Nasr before re-joining the Viola.
