Stevan Jovetic reveals why he decided to stay at Fiorentina. “The President promised we’d challenge for Champions League qualification very soon.”
He spoke to Vijesti in Montenegro and outlined why he turned down proposals from the likes of Chelsea, Manchester City, Juventus and Inter this summer.
“I could’ve left Fiorentina, as I had some big offers, but I decided to remain in Florence. The President promised to make big signings so we’d challenge for Champions League qualification very soon.
“Our objective this season is to finish in the top three, so reaching the Champions League.
“Will I go to a big club in the future? For now I’m not thinking about it, but if it’s going to happen, then it will.
“If I leave Florence, then I’d like to stay in Italy, as I am happy here. Of course the Ballon d’Or would be a dream, but there is so much competition.”
Jovetic missed an entire year with a devastating knee injury that is still causing him problems now.
“I feel good now, even if the time out proved to be longer than anticipated. I returned too early from the last injury and this did not help the recovery process.”
