Delio Rossi says he didn’t hesitate in accepting the offer to become the new Coach of Sampdoria.
Rossi has replaced Ciro Ferrara at Marassi following Doria’s 3-1 reverse at Catania on Sunday afternoon.
“I was paired with Sampdoria yesterday and I immediately said yes,” the tactician explained at his unveiling.
“However, I want to say a few words to Ferrara. I know what it means to be unable to finish a job. I don’t know him personally, but I’m close to him today.”
The Italian returns to the bench after his spectacular dismissal at Fiorentina last season which followed a touchline brawl with midfielder Adem Ljajic.
“That story is over, I’ve already said sorry to everybody,” he continued. “For me, Florence remains a beautiful memory.”
Rossi was asked to keep the Viola in the top flight last term and he’s been given the same task in Genoa.
“It’s hard to judge Samp’s problems from the television,” he continued. “But the only people who can resolve matters are the players. I can only train them.”
Rossi then brushed aside questions about the January transfer market. “I’ve not had a chance to discuss that yet.”
Sampdoria will face Rossi’s former club Lazio at the weekend.
