Antonio Candreva admits it “feels a bit strange” for Lazio to end 2012 in second place, but it’s something he could get used to.
The Biancocelesti are the closest team to leaders Juventus, even though there is an eight-point gap at the top of the Serie A table.
“We got off to a great start, but we’ve been preparing for this since the first day of pre-season training with the Coach,” midfielder Candreva told Lazio Style Radio.
“It is wonderful being in second place and it feels a bit strange. We’re also doing very well in Europe, as it’s not easy to finish top of your Europa League group.
“We’ve dropped a few Serie A points along the way and should be closer to Juve, but in any case we’re on the right track. We prepare every game to score more than our opponents, but also not to concede.
“Let us continue like this and then in May we’ll see where we end up.”
Candreva pin-pointed his favourite moment of 2012 as his scorching goal against Napoli on April 7.
“I was coming from a really tough time and thought I couldn’t make my mark at Lazio, but that goal was a breakthrough.
“In second place I’d put the goal and victory in the Rome Derby.”
