Milan have been dealt a huge blow with news that Massimo Ambrosini will be out for six to eight weeks.
The captain picked up a thigh strain in his right leg and tests have shown it is a serious injury.
“There is a second grade lesion in the right thigh muscle. The prognosis is six to eight weeks,” read an official statement on the club website.
The Rossoneri have suffered from a series of injury problems this season and their midfield in particular has been decimated.
For the match against Genoa, Milan are without Clarence Seedorf, Kevin-Prince Boateng, Alessandro Nesta, Gennaro Gattuso, Gianluca Zambrotta, Andrea Pirlo, Marco Amelia, Rodney Strasser, Nicola Legrottaglie, Pippo Inzaghi and possibly Ignazio Abate too.
