Struggling Palermo boss Gian Piero Gasperini has been told that his job is safe despite another defeat in Serie A.
The tactician, who replaced Giuseppe Sannino after Week 3, has failed to revitalise the Sicilian giants.
The 3-0 loss against Napoli on Sunday was their fifth in six games and fuelled talk that Gasperini could be axed.
“We will go ahead with Gasperini,” President Maurizio Zamparini stated on Monday. “He has my faith and that of the club.”
Palermo, who have won just three of their 20 games, are four points adrift of Serie A safety and they’ll entertain Lazio at the weekend.
“These are not the games where we will get the points we need for safety,” Palermo CEO Pietro Lo Monaco said after the Naples reverse.
“We’ll play for everything in our home games because we can save ourselves and we’ll do everything possible to do that.”
