Walter Mazzarri feels Napoli deserved more than a point in Florence, even though they conceded “a shocking goal.”
The Partenopei earned a 1-1 draw with Edinson Cavani’s 100th Serie A goal after Facundo Roncaglia’s pass from the halfway line bounced over Morgan De Sanctis.
“It was an entertaining game and both teams wanted to win,” said the Napoli Coach.
“We were unlucky conceding that shocking goal and perhaps at the end we deserved something more than a point. Now we have Parma, who are another tough opponent.”
Napoli are therefore still joint second with Lazio, but now five points adrift of leaders Juventus.
“We hope to do even better, as we may have 13 more points than at this stage last season, but we won’t rest on our laurels.
“Cavani? Well, what more is there to say?”
It was a special game for Mazzarri, who coached Vincenzo Montella at Sampdoria.
“Has he used some of my teachings? That’s up to him to say. Fiorentina do remind me of my Sampdoria in the way they play. We had a great campaign and went close to a Champions League spot, but the Viola are even stronger than we were.”
