The agent of Daniele Portanova has defended the player after he hit out at former club Bologna on Twitter.
The 34-year-old has made a move to Genoa, despite fans of the Renato Dell'Ara side protesting at his departure .
“I love the Bologna shirt,” Portanova said via the social network. “The truth is the club does not deserve you fans.”
However, despite that embittered response to the move, the defender's representative has come out in solidarity with his client.
“He is definitely very bitter about the situation,” Matteo Materazzi told Sky Sport Italia. “It is not easy to leave a team when you are the captain and are loved by the fans.
“Twitter is perhaps not the best way to express your feelings, but Daniele just wanted to express the regret he feels at leaving Bologna.
“Now he has to roll up his sleeves and try to save Genoa from relegation.”
