Roma's American owners are prepared to offer Claudio Ranieri a one-year contract extension, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
The Tinkerman's existing deal is due to expire at the end of the season, which makes a decision on his future all the more pressing.
Thomas Di Benedetto, the head of the American consortium, has apparently already given consideration to Ranieri's situation.
He is said to be happy for Ranieri to continue, but the reasoning behind such a short-term deal is apparently so they can keep their options open.
Il Corriere understands Ranieri is a little disappointed given his track record in Spain and England, and report that he feels entitled to greater confidence after the wonderful first season he had in charge of the club.
