Italy's training session this morning appears to indicate that Thiago Motta will start against Germany and Giorgio Chiellini will play at left-back.
The Azzurri were put through their paces at Coverciano before leaving for tomorrow's friendly in Dortmund.
Reports in the media claim that Cesare Prandelli used Motta at the base of a midfield diamond in a mini-game.
Another novelty came in the form of Chiellini being deployed at left-back so Leonardo Bonucci and Andrea Ranocchia could partner each other in central defence again for the first time since their season at Bari together.
Prandelli lined his team up in a 4-4-2, but also experimented with an attacking trident comprised of Stefano Mauri, Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini.
