Cesare Prandelli maintains “the draw was the right result” in Dortmund and commented on Giorgio Chiellini's new position.
“The draw is the right result, a defeat would've been unfair. We played well in a difficult arena,” he said of Italy's 1-1 in Germany.
“We were a little more intense after the break, although in the first half we also had some good chances.”
Giuseppe Rossi scored the equaliser nine minutes from time after a Miroslav Klose opener.
Chiellini played as a left-back, which he has just switched to for Juventus, while Brazil-born Inter midfielder Thiago Motta had his Italy debut.
“Chiellini needs to find his pace, which he will do at club level with practice. Thiago Motta is used to having a lot of the ball,” continued Prandelli on RAI.
“Antonio Cassano had some interesting moves too. We are distant from this already well-drilled Germany right now, but we can keep working and close that gap to achieve great things on our journey.”
