Marek Hamsik has admitted that Napoli’s Europa League campaign is almost over after the 3-0 home loss to Viktoria Plzen on Thursday.
“It will be difficult to overturn this scoreline,” the Slovakian attacking midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.
“They scored with their first chance. We had opportunities in the second period, but we didn’t manage to take them.
“At the end of the day we should not have seen this is a one-off game because the 3-0 will be really hard to recover.”
Napoli boss Walter Mazzarri noted that his side’s attitude was all wrong going into the match and Hamsik agrees.
“We have to reflect on this game,” Hamsik added. “You can’t take to the field as we did tonight in any game, not even in a friendly.
“Plzen are a good side and we saw that, but nobody expected this result.”
