Innocent Emeghara is enjoying his extraordinary start to a Serie A career, while Siena reveal why they picked him.
“I am certainly going through a great moment of form. I’m doing my best and scoring is fantastic for a striker,” grinned the Swiss-Nigerian hitman.
Emeghara was signed from Ligue 1 side Lorient in January and has netted four goals in just three starts for Siena.
“I always try to give my all to help this team that believed in me. Why do I wear two different boots? Because I have two different sponsors, but what counts is to feel comfortable on the field.”
The 23-year-old was an unknown before Siena snapped him up on loan.
“At Udinese I monitored football all over the world,” explained Siena director of sport Stefano Antonelli.
“I was curious about this lad, so I made the most of that knowledge when I went to Siena. He wasn’t playing consistently at Lorient, had gone to the Olympics against the club’s wishes and so we signed him on loan with an option to buy.
“Speaking to Coach Beppe Iachini, we discovered his best quality is his intelligence. He is incredibly quick and smart, so becomes almost unstoppable.”
