If Riccardo Montolivo were to leave in the summer, Fiorentina would prefer to sell the midfielder abroad, according to Il Corriere dello Sport.
Montolivo has stalled on a new contract offer and plans to review his options at the end of the season.
The Italy international's existing deal is due to expire in June 2012.
Italy's big three are all interested in signing Montolivo, but Bayern Munich have also been long-term admirers of the 26-year-old.
Much like with Luca Toni in 2007, Fiorentina would rather not strengthen their rivals even if it means accepting a lower offer.
Montolivo has a German mother and knows the language well, thus a move to Bayern Munich wouldn't be completely out of leftfield.
