Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni isn’t surprised that the outfit have decided to hand John Carew a trial.
“I think that with Diego Milito's injury the club wanted to look around to see if there's a certain type of player who might fit our purposes,” he stated.
“Obviously we're talking about free agents within a certain date, so the options are limited.
“Our directors have identified that type of player in Carew and now he's going to have a trial with us, then we'll decide whether to sign him or not.
“It's a fairly normal procedure in other countries.”
The Norwegian arrived in Italy on Tuesday and he’ll now spend the next week or so trying to prove his fitness to the club.
Inter, who are short of options in attack after they lost Milito for the rest of the season to a knee ligament issue, are next in action against surprise package Catania.
“It's always difficult to go to Catania and at the moment they're right up there with us,” the tactician added. “We're going into a tough run of fixtures now.”
